What is Mass Balanced?

Mass Balance Sustainable Palm oil allows for the controlled mixing of Certified Sustainable Palm Oil with non-certified Palm Oil. The mixing of the oils by certified refiners and manufacturers is at known percentages and proportions all the way through the supply chain. This means that the Sustainable oil which goes into the facility balances with the Mass Balance product that is produced.

Where can I get Mass Balanced?

MOI International can source Mass Balance Sustainable Palm Oil. All Mewah group facilities are certified to produce Mass Balance Sustainable Palm oil under the stringent requirements of the RSPO. MOI International can order Mass Balance Sustainable Palm Oil from our refineries and manufacturing facilities now. We can supply Mass Balance Sustainable Palm Oil in minimum order lots of one FCL of product.

How much will it cost?

The cost of Mass Balance Sustainable palm Oil will be approximately $60-$100 per metric tonne over non-certified palm oil. Based on a worst case, if you manufacture pies, this will equate to approximately ¼ of a cent per pie for a 180g meat pie and approximately ½ of a cent per pie for a 450g family apple pie.

What claims can I make?

If you purchase MOI brand product which is RSPO certified Mass Balance Sustainable Palm Oil you can make the statement that you use Mass Balance Sustainable Palm Oil in the production of you product. If you are an RSPO member you can display the RSPO logo with a claim of support for Sustainable Palm Oil. For example “XYZ Brand supports the production of RSPO certified Sustainable Palm Oil”. If you are not an RSPO member no on pack claim can be made. If the company you pack product for is an RSPO member they can display the RSPO logo with a claim of support for Sustainable Palm Oil. If the company you pack for is not an RSPO member no on pack claim can be made.
